Closed Guard This Month
We are working on a specific series of closed guard attacks from three basic positions all this month. February we will be working from the top on our guard passing.
Mid-Atlantic Grappling Championships
Congrats to Andi Surface for picking up two medals at US Grappling’s Mid-Atlantic Grappling Championships II in Boothwyn, PA this weekend! BJJ Revolution teammates Mary Brulatour, Cecily Garcia, and Jeff Miller also left with medals.
Saturday, November 21st Leg Lock Seminar
Five Points Self Defense Academy will be hosting Andrew “Goatfury” Smith for a leg lock seminar on Saturday November 21st, 2009 at 2p.m.
The seminar is open to anyone who would like to attend for the cost of $35 dollars. Space is somewhat limited so the seminar will be capped at 30 people.
Andrew and myself have been training partners since around 2000. He has developed in that time a great tactical as well as technical understanding of the leg lock game and its never ending applications. As his long time training partner I have been on the receiving end of his leg attacks, and from personal experience I would pay him to show how he sets up and executes his leg attacks.

No Gi Pan Ams
The prestigious IBJJF No Gi Pan Ams are in New York City this weekend. We’ll be waiting for results from our BJJ Revolution teammates such as Andrew Smith and Jon Burnley.
Valerie Worthington & Ryan Hall
During her short trip to Virginia Valerie Worthington stopped by 5 Points to train with us. Later that night she was at Ryan Hall’s academy, Fifty/50 BJJ. Check out Val demonstrating this apparently very effective guillotine choke defense.
